Training in the winter will help you this spring

You know I always think that those who train through the winter might have a better deal than those that train through the summer for marathons and half's. The reason? The weather. Yeap those rainy cold windy days make just a bit tougher I think and make the effort of a marathon easier.  Not only do you have to endure cold wet , windy weather (in these here parts) but you have to decide to go there and do it.

You get up on Saturday morings, it's still dark, it's 35 degrees, raining and windy. Now thats commitment and I really feel that with that kind of commitment you'll have a successful event come spring. Those that lay in bed thinking "oh I'l wait till later when the weather is better", find out that it's not and now have to go out there on their own if they can find the will power (probably not) and go thorugh it alone.

Tuesday / Wednesday night's, again in the wind and cold and to make matters worse you're now on a soggy muddy track have to gut out another 800 repeat or one more hill repeat but you do  and that's the kind of stuff that will helpp you come race day. You know if you can do it all month long in February come May and 50-60 degree temps your race will be nothing compared to your training this winter.

Keep up the great work people.

We;ve had a coupl eof members take on some marathon's over the last couple of weeks. Tracie who ventured up to Birch Bay, where I guess at that the finish they were a little short on water and Suzanne who is her quest for 50 states knocked out Florida and Texas with a PR. Great Job ladies!!
